Cookie Policy

Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how Bellseum (bellseum.com) uses cookies and similar technologies, what they do, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy. We use cookies in accordance with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and the UK GDPR.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They allow the website to recognise your device, remember your preferences and understand how the site is used. Some cookies are essential for the website to work; others are optional and are only set with your consent. We also use similar technologies such as pixels and local storage, which this policy covers in the same way.

Your consent

When you first visit our website, a cookie banner (provided by Pandectes GDPR Compliance) lets you accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or choose which categories to allow. Strictly necessary cookies are set without consent because the website cannot function without them. All other categories are only set once you have given consent. Your choice is stored for 365 days, after which we will ask again.

Categories of cookies we use

1. Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for the website and checkout to operate. They remember what is in your basket, keep you logged in to your account, secure the checkout, and help prevent fraud. They are set by Shopify, the platform our store runs on, and cannot be switched off. Examples: cart, secure_customer_sig, _shopify_s, _secure_session_id, localization. No consent is required.

2. Functional cookies
These remember choices you make, such as your currency, language, or recently viewed products, so that you don't need to set them again on every visit. Set only with your consent.

3. Performance cookies
These collect anonymised information about how visitors use our website - which pages are popular, how people move through the site, and where errors occur - so that we can improve it. We use Shopify's built-in analytics and an order-tracking service (ParcelPanel) to understand how the site is used. Examples: _shopify_y, _landing_page, _orig_referrer. Set only with your consent. We do not currently use Google Analytics; if we introduce it, it will only run with your consent and with IP anonymisation enabled.

4. Targeting cookies
We do not currently set any targeting or advertising cookies. If we work with advertising partners in the future (for example Google Ads or Meta), their cookies will only be set with your consent, and this policy will be updated first.

Third-party cookies

Some cookies are placed by third parties who provide services to us, in particular Shopify (platform and analytics) and ParcelPanel (order tracking). These companies have their own privacy and cookie policies, and some of them process data outside the United Kingdom under the safeguards described in our Privacy Policy.

How long cookies last

Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain on your device for a set period - from a few hours for checkout security up to two years for some analytics cookies - or until you delete them.

How to change or withdraw your consent

You can change your mind at any time:

  • Cookie settings link: click "Cookie settings" on our website at any time to reopen the banner and update your choices per category. You can also e-mail us at contact@bellseum.com and we will help reset your consent preferences. Withdrawing consent stops new cookies in that category being set; cookies already on your device can be deleted through your browser.
  • Browser settings: all major browsers let you view, block and delete cookies. See the help pages for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent you from adding items to your basket or completing checkout.

Your rights

Data collected through cookies is personal data where it can identify you. You have the rights described in our Privacy Policy, including the right to object and to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when the cookies we use change or the law requires. Changes will be published on this page with an updated date.
